Our Mission

"To produce a self administered, comprehensive exercise programme primarily aimed at computer users to help prevent and reduce musculo-skeletal pain and increase mobility"

The creators have long recognised that with the exponential growth in use of computers for work and leisure there is an increased threat to the health and well being of the population. Our clinical experience has shown us that computer use is a strong causative and maintaining factor in musculo-skeletal dysfunction (MSD) which can be treated in various ways. Apart from 'hands-on' therapies like osteopathy, one of the most effective methods is through exercise, stretch and relaxation. However it can prove difficult for people to remember how and when to do the exercises prescribed by a clinician.

Desk Therapy seeks to address these problems by producing an easy to follow, inexpensive, safe, effective product that can improve the subscribers levels of pain, mobility and well being.

The other problem facing people these days is the pressure of time. Many exercise regimes are lengthy and may involve travelling away from ones home or work place. Desk Therapy recognises this problem and has produced an exercise regime that can be performed without leaving ones desk. Although it is recommended to perform the exercises every hour (this can be set to the user preference), our subscribers usually report an increase in their productivity. This seems to be because 'micro breaks' are effective moments of rest refreshing the individual and by helping to reduce pain levels, the subscribers often report improved concentration and efficiency thereby reducing costly mistakes.

About Us

The creators of Desk Therapy and its contributors have many years of clinical experience and expertise.

Max Secchi B.Sc.(Hons) Ost

Max Secchi is a UK registered osteopath who qualified from the British School of Osteopathy (BSO) with first class honours in 1996 taking the prize for Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Neurology. Following graduation he went straight into private practice in Notting Hill and Harley Street in London whilst working part time as a Clinical Tutor at the BSO. He escaped the "rat race" of London in 2003 when he moved to Devon to raise his young family. He currently works in his private practice, The South Dartmoor Clinic, in Ashburton, and in Plympton in south west Devon. Max Secchi also teaches Anatomy part time. He has delivered lectures and tutorials at the Peninsula Medical School, the Home Office, The University of Westminster and the London Stock Exchange and worked "in house" offering treatment and ergonomic advice to large corporations like PricewaterhouseCoopers.

He has special clinical interest in rehabilitation exercises, stress reduction and sleep disorders and spends his spare time playing tennis, rock climbing, playing the piano, doing yoga and in meditation.

Kate Fry B.Sc.(Hons) Ost

Kate Fry is a UK based osteopath and co-founder of Desk Therapy. She gained her degree at the British School of Osteopathy in 1998. She worked in South London and Notting Hill for five years before returning to her roots in Devon where she now works part time in her private practice, The South Dartmoor Clinic in Ashburton and Totnes, and raises her two daughters. She is a keen walker, enjoys gardening and yoga.

Over the years Kate has found that whilst hands on work is an effective way of restoring function to the body often problems recur unless the underlying predisposing and maintaining factors are addressed. She believes that a structured, individually tailored exercise regime is vital for many patients especially those with sedentary occupations or hobbies.
